Professor Yu Zhou obtained his Bachelor of Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology (China). He completed his PhD degree at The University of Newcastle in 1992. He joined The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) in 1995 and rolled through the ranks of Assistant, Associate and Full Professor. Since 2013, he has been Full Professor and Director of the Institute of Turbulence-Noise-Vibration Interaction and Control at the Harbin Institute of Technology. His main research interests are experimental studies of turbulent flows (wakes, jets, boundary layers, complex flows), flow-induced vibrations and artificial intelligence control of turbulence. He has published over 170 rigorously refereed archival journal papers, including over 30 in the Journal of Fluid Mechanics. His work has received more than 3000 ISI citations. He has received a number of awards, including the 2003 VSJ best paper award medal from the Visualization Society of Japan, Research Grant Achievement Award 2006 of PolyU, Industrial and Engineering Services Grant Achievement Award 2007 of PolyU, Chinese national “1000 Talent Scheme” award in 2010, the Distinguished Visiting Scientist in 2014-2015 in the CSIRO of Australia, elected Fellow of Australasian Fluid Mechanics Society in 2014. He serves as Associate Editor of AIAA Journal.
